Server is currently down in the process of updating to 4.4.9. This will take a while since the worldmap will be generated from scratch and we want it to turn out sort of decent.
Meanwhile join irc.worldirc.org, channel #tomenet or something
Added a graph of ping response times to arbitrarily chosen sites around the world (usually a news site or an ISP) to "Servers" section.
These aren't really reliable or accurate at all, so take them with a grain of salt. They're more for fun or if you suspect the sea cables have been cut off when your connection suffers a timeout. :-p
Server was down for last night (starting at 3.15am GMT+1) for about 5 hours just now due to highly experimental code that went bonkers. It's just been fixed and the server is now up again.
Server crashed today at 16:30 UTC. There was a possibility of data corruption, so a rollback was issued to 14.50 UTC.
The bug causing the crash has been fixed and server is back online.
We had to issue another server rollback to -20.5 hours ago at 7.30 UTC to 11.00 UTC a day ago. Sorry for the inconvenience. This restores the empty houses around Bree, which were caused by a different bug than the one requiring the previous rollback. This bug has now been fixed too.
To elaborate: A bug caused too many items to be created, to which another piece of ancient code reacted by just deleting items sector-wise without any checks, which randomly hit the housing sector. Both the bug creating too many items and the item-cleanup-code have been corrected.
This is a bit late, but here goes anyway:
In the night from saturday-sunday there were several hours of downtime while everyone from the dev team was actually away, so we noticed it pretty late. The problem was identified and corrected so it won't occur again (had to do with vampire bats flying over very specific terrain).
