There are a few items in the TomeNET options screen that I do not know what they do. Could someone please explain what the following options do.
Game-Play Options
Flicker messages in recall
TomeNET Additional Options
Supress server messages as far as possible
Thin down screen flush signals to avoid freezing
Stay still when item-retaliation fails
Always show lists in item/skill selection
Add target information to the message history
Disable delays from flush signals

Re: TomeNET options
No one knows what any of this stuff does?
Re: TomeNET options
Messages with flashing color codes such as {f are animated in the message and chat windows.Shank wrote:Flicker messages in recall
This option is probably intended for ultra-low bandwidth players. Here are some examples what this option does:Shank wrote:Supress server messages as far as possible
- You won't get pseudo-ID messages.
- You won't get a message when a monster hits you.
- You won't get a message when you shoot or your spell hits a monster.
A flush signal is a request from the server to the client to wait for 1ms. In some situations the server can send excessive amounts of flush signals which will freeze the client. For example different kinds of animations (arrows fired, exploding balls) used lots of flush signals.Shank wrote:Thin down screen flush signals to avoid freezing
This option prevents melee auto-retaliation after failing to use an item with @O inscription.Shank wrote:Stay still when item-retaliation fails
Lists are automatically shown without having to press spacebar. For example if you try to 'r'ead something, a list of items in your inventory is displayed automatically.Shank wrote:Always show lists in item/skill selection
This option appears to print a message every time you 'l'ook at something.Shank wrote:Add target information to the message history
In some cases a flush signal can delay the client for more than 1ms. This happens on Windows sometimes. This option will make the client ignore all flush signals thus solving all related freezing problems.Shank wrote:Disable delays from flush signals
Before someone is going to suggest that obsolete options should be removed completely, I'd like to say that removing old options isn't easy. All the options are also sent to the server and the server expects the clients to send the obsolete options too.
