Strange Death

I was fighting some trolls, when I met up with their grand master archer. He was hitting me hard and fast, so I tried to tel and quaff heals at least four times, but nothing worked. I went back and counted and he hit me like 21 times in a row without any response from me. I was not out of focus or lagged (at least not according to the lag meter). There was nothing in the log to indicate a stun or anything else that might have accounted for the freeze. This is not the first time this has happened to me. Do I need to change a setting maybe? Has anyone else been having problems with unexplained freezing during combat?
