Whats the point of unmakers?

Literally all they do is destroying whole levels. There is absolutely no counterplay to that, except for spawning right next to one and kill it before it breeds. But usually they sit in vaults so that its impossible. No one ever dies to them, so they arent even dangerous. Killing them is also pointless because they dont drop anything. What about at least reducing chances for them to appear or even removing them from the game entirely? I dont see any reason to have them in game. Yes im salty because my last 3 D pits had unmakers on the level. I dont think removing them would make the game easier. I'd rather have them removed and increased time for generating new levels when stair scumming.

It's always one of the most unpleasant creatures to meet. And it's what making game complex -> fun.'

Maybe.. they could multiply more slowly, so players would make attemps to kill them sometimes, not only to run :)

Sorry but i disagree completely. Look at for example Qs. I fear them. You fear them. You cant see them, they are very dangerous and often kill people. And i dont demand removing them, they are part of what makes this game hard. Now, unmakers. When did the last person died from them? Its so easy to recall or change level before they reach you that they are not dangerous at all. They are just an annoyance- just like "1/3 of levels randomly gives you no experience or loot on them" feature. (1/3 in deep angband, since they are rare on lower depths).

Q doesn't kill you also. They summon stuff which kill you :) So if you see Q pit you would also run from lvl, pretty the same as with unmakers.

Unmakers doing the same thing - they create dangerous enviroment. They are very annoying, true. But they fit into TomeNET ecosystem pretty well.

Also you speak from the point of view of player who got _everything_ (good equip) and also got plenty of gaming experience. For new players or 'soloist' - unmakers are really big danger, especially with bad equipment.

Well, i'd say the only thing needed to never die from unmakers is ESP, which everyone has by the time unmakers start to appear. But whatever.

So maybe devs should make unmakers un-ESP-able, like Q's? :D Sure thing, then people would die from them at last :lol: ...

I'd take un-ESPable unmakers over what we have now every day of the week. Just make them a little bit slower (maybe 20%) and appear much less often. Then they would have a purpose other than being annoying. And add some kind of drop to them, would make fighting them viable.

It should be highely experimental.. maybe there could appear new 'species', high-lvl version of unmakers who would be un-ESP-able? and make current unmakers a bit less high lvl at the same time
