Sauron & Mt. Doom

In last update IDDC got this - "Sauron can be generated on any level starting at depth 99".

I wonder, maybe make the same thing for non-IDDC mode? Cause now every character forced to go to Mt.Doom.. And certain classes are very OK there - who could cast Rune of Protection and Stone Prison; but other classes are quite helpless in Mt.Doom, so the only way to kill Sauron for them - cheeze lvl layout for very long time to get Sauron into the vault. Right now it's seems that its much harder to kill Sauron, then Morgoth because of Mt.Doom severe layout.

Maybe it's ok to make it possible to meet Sauron in Angband as it was long time ago? Even in quite deep Angband :twisted:

Not really problem, kill him with warrior and mimic(just rush it), interception + offencive stance helps a lot.

yep, its much easier to do in EL mode. At NE its very different )

Same thing, just 1 life. Also a ton thing much cheaper in your mode = less grind.

it's MUCH easier to get any items @ EL cause of insta-ress, rings 10+ speed is common there... actually devs designed EL as kinda 'training' mode and real game starts at NE :roll:

Please lets discuss there Sauron & Mt. Doom, not 'NE vs EL' holywar :|

My vote goes to leaving Sauron in Mount Doom, going all the way down is a really exciting adventure that every player should experience :) also in Angband he would be extremely easy to kill.

It has some pluses - players have to group for killing Sauron atm... But for solo lone-wolfs non-magic players its hell.. So result: Angband is muuuch easier then Mt.Doom... It's not really logical.

I have to pitch in...

I don't view EL as a "Training mode". I view it as more of a casual class to the game. People who can't deal with the stress of losing everything after putting in dozens of hours of their valuable time into a character to die to a lag spike! Me personally? I don't have as much time to play as I used to. I can't keep putting in dozens of hours into a character every time I step on a death potion trap with frost hounds right on the other side to blow it up in my inventory and start over ;).

On the topic, I like Sauron on on Mt.Doom, It has prevented me from taking him on early and really making sure I'm ready and up to the task. It adds more flair to the game. Instead of luckily finding him in the dungeon in Angband and deciding to just try him out and take him on. Adds more difficulty to this game that I enjoy.

I haven't taken him on yet in Mt.Doom, but my heart is racing thinking bout it! Love it.

It's kinda obvious that EL players like to have Sauron in Mt.Doom - to have more thrill in their gameplay. But in NE mode there are lots of thrill even without Mt.Doom. Its ok to have especially dangerous places in game, like Moria and Erebor - _when_ you do not forced to go there. Wanna risk - you could go. But Mt.Doom is obligatory content now. And, as I said in my 1st message, it's ok to go there with Rune of Protection and Stone Prison spells, but for solo _non-magical chars_ it's pretty deadly place. EL non-magical players are overequipped, maybe thats why they do not feel harshness of this place, but at NE it's very different.

Also wanna add small explanation. The main problem is not Sauron himself, but dungeon layout - totally indiggable. So the only way to kill Sauron there _for melee_ chat - to do loads of cheezing at stairs. It not fun, that players forced, obligated to cheeze to win this battle.

Summary:
So currently Sauron in Mt.Doom seems perfectly fitted for EL mode, but in NE it imbalanced for non-playable for solo non-magical chars.

Killing Sauron has become a pure question of DPS. If you don't do a lot of damage fast, he's gonna spam Heal Self/Teleport Self/Teleport Other and you won't be able to kill him period. So yeah, bring your +30 todam +3 ea weapons, ea gloves, +15 speed rings... And be prepared to restart the fight a lot if he summons or teleports away.
