Re: running server?

Okay, I redid my changes on the latest version, and logged in. How would I customize my server (i.e., list the changes/version/fork name somewhere, or alter the welcome screens, etc.) and get it into the servers list? (as a ‘fun’ server) I'm not sure where I'll run it yet (at home or my virtual priv...

Re: [graphics] Tangar's tileset - 1 bit graphics font for TomeNET

[...]In my opinion they should be the default tiles for new starters. As I originally implied (saying the tiles should be an option , not default, but not sure Tangar understood) I agree with Tangar ASCII is best for ‘situation awareness.’ A low-level player doesn't want to see a humanoid then it's...

[idea] themes (worlds)

How hard would it be to have ToME2-style themes (worlds) that people could create? A few people are worried about TomeNET getting sued for using Middle-earth, though ToME1 & 2 & TomeNET aren't for-profit, and its predecessor games Moria & Angband weren't sued after almost 40 years development, and i...

Re: [graphics] Tangar's tileset - 1 bit graphics font for TomeNET

Shouldn't these and, if usable, Angband tilesets, become an official option? I finally convinced a friend to possibly play TomeNET in the future (after playing another ‘MMORPG’ with him) but he was reluctant, describing roguelikes ‘s*** house graphics’ (though I explained the advantage of using text...

Re: running server?

Thanks, and no problem... having to redo it finally made me decide to try some programming tools (sed, etc.) to see if I can re-implement the changes faster... but after first try, it didn't replace most the strings. Any other suggestions, or should I ask more in a programming thread? Also, I'm wond...

sort of related: TomeNET & ToME2

This is sort of related, so (administrators) feel free to move it somewhere else, re-title it (and delete this sentence.) I'm just wondering if there's any chance of the ToME2 fork/variant and TomeNET developers ever working together to improve both games. ToME2 is being continued by AnonymousHero (...

Re: running server?

The problem is the tomenet.eu front page doesn't link to the latest source code, only the latest client. The older client connects fine. I found the source code in downloads directory, but now have to redo all my code.

Re: running server?

I did ‘make clean’ first, and nothing changed after make. Again, as someone wrongly assumed or misunderstood, I didn't change the PC's map position (don't even know where it is.) I'll prove that with this diff (temporary URL... is there a repository?) DTomeNET diff (again, doesn't work yet, so don't...

Re: running server?

I thought I was increasing how many statistics points (STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA) you get to distribute, but are you saying I changed the map points instead? I didn't want to do that, just make a better ‘fun’ server... I guess I'll diff my version with the current standard and see what went wrong.

more generic material from classic D&D through AD&D (all editions?)

Since Moria/Angband/ToME is originally based on classic D&D athrough AD&D 1st & 2nd (& revised) ed. (the best, and which are known to be backwards-compatible with mainly some minor numerical changes,) I'd like to see a lot more generic material from that, particularly races, classes, schools of magi...
